- Use the gathered measurements and transfer them to your graph paper. Each square on the graph equals 3in. Start your design at the "0" coordinates and use the "X and Y" axis (outside 4 squares, left and top), for your measurements.
- Place Windows and doors first on your graph paper by writing down the physical measurements of the windows and the doors and recording the distances to the center and edge of the opening.
- Then place appliances on your design by writing down the physical measurements of the appliances and then record the appropriate measurement to the center and edge of each appliance.
- If there were any obstructions in your kitchen, then place these measurements on your graph next. Make some side notes as to the nature of the obstruction.
Remember that you can move plumbing, electrical outlets, and appliances to accommodate a design change. Also remember that major movement and design changes will add to the cost of your project - even if you are doing the project yourself.
